Discover outdoors with Nethergong Camping in Kent

Camping, glamping, bushcraft, wildlife, yoga, barrel sauna and open countryside

Nethergong Camping is a family-run campsite that’s perfect for both families and couples. Set across 26 acres, the site caters for all types of back-to-nature camping and glamping.

Whether you’d like some peace and quiet in a private wooded area, or you’d prefer to be in the mix with other families playing rounders in an open field, there’s something for everyone!

Based in Upstreet in the heart of East Kent, the campsite is a stone's throw from Margate and Whitstable, while also boasting scenic countryside walks and a close proximity to Canterbury. Nethergong is popular with locals that want an easy break away and campers from further afield that want to enjoy all that Kent has to offer.

Nethergong is known for its natural beauty and diverse wildlife and has more than 3000 English broad-leaved trees on-site. Owls, dragonflies, newts, bats, ducks and a huge number of frogs can regularly be spotted around the pond and fishing lake. In a recent year, over 130 different species of birds were spotted on-site, too!

If putting up your own tent isn’t your idea of fun and glamping is more your thing, there are also fully-furnished bell tents, five shepherd’s huts and four vintage caravans to hire - small campervans are welcome on site, too.

Open for more than 15 years, the Jenkins family have added quality food and drink offers for campers over time, including wood-fired pizza on Fridays, rustic Italian food from ‘Alberto’s Kitchen’ on Saturdays, a horsebox bar and a small shop/café selling camping essentials, pastries and decent coffee.

There’s plenty for kids and adults to do at Nethergong, with many a bike ride and tree to climb. There are also regular activities including boating, bushcraft sessions, yoga and their own barrel sauna, which is new for 2025!

During the low and off season, Nethergong hosts Willowbank Education, an inspiring community outdoor learning initiative that offers fishing and forest school to young people to help them thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Willowbank also offers fishing and bushcraft tuition throughout the school holidays for campers and glampers.

If you fancy a break away in the beautiful Kent countryside, Nethergong’s season runs from Friday April 25th through until the end of September. Weekends are booking up quickly but there are still plenty of camping and glamping pitches available in the half term, term time and mid weeks in the Summer holidays. You will be warmly welcomed and won’t regret it!
