Fortnum & Mason partners with Margate fish and chip shop for Fortnum’s-On-Sea

The famous brand will be working with Peter’s Fish Factory

This July, Margate stalwart Peter’s Fish Factory is introducing an extraordinary new collaboration – teaming up with iconic London retailer Fortnum & Mason to launch Fortnum’s-On-Sea, right on Margate’s bustling seafront.

From Tuesday 1st July to Thursday 31st July, the family-run favourite – a beloved staple of Margate since 1984 – will offer a limited-time menu that brings ‘a taste of Piccadilly to the Kent coast’, blending Peter’s legendary fish and chips with hand-picked ingredients from Fortnum’s.

As well as the usual offering at Peter’s Fish Factory, the menu will feature the following options, designed in partnership with Peter’s Fish Factory team using the best picks from Fortnum & Mason*:

The Dip & Chips: A perfect pairing – Fortnum’s legendary 181 Sauce meets Peter’s golden chips, £1.70

The Bait & Barley: A catch made in heaven – Peter’s fish in Fortnum’s Kentish India Pale Ale batter, £7.50

The Battered Sausage: A British classic – Fortnum’s Dingley Dell pork sausage in crisp batter with Fortnum’s 181 Sauce, £3.50 - Limited availability, while stocks last.

Sip Me Quick! Fortnum’s Sparkling Tea and Fortnum’s Rose Sparkling Tea 0% ABV, £19.95/75cl bottle & Fortnum’s Iced Tea, £3.50 per can

A much-loved destination in Margate, Peter’s Fish Factory is a proudly family-run business, with Peter working alongside his son and grandson to serve what they - and many locals and visitors - call the best fish and chips in Kent. Located near the Turner Contemporary and over the road from the Margate steps, the shop regularly draws queues down the street, come rain or shine.

Peter first opened the doors to Peter’s Fish Factory in 1984, having worked his way up from fryer to operations controller for a national chain before deciding to go it alone. For over 40 years, Peter has been at the helm of the family-run business, now joined by his son and grandson. “I found something I loved doing in 1967 and that has not changed,” says Peter. “I think people appreciate tradition and quality - and that is what we’ll continue to offer, no matter what changes around us.”

Antonio Zoccola, Fresh, Deli and Bakery Buyer at Fortnum & Mason, said: "We’re thrilled to be collaborating with a local gem like Peter’s Fish Factory. It’s the perfect seaside spot to showcase Fortnum’s flair for flavour – pairing our best ingredients and condiments with its iconic fish and chips."

Peter Curtis, Owner and Founder of Peter’s Fish Factory, continued: "We are over the moon to be partnering with Fortnum & Mason – I couldn’t quite believe it when we first got the call! We’ve been serving up traditional fish and chips to Margate locals and visitors for over 4 decades, so we are delighted to share it with Fortnum’s this summer.

“I think its 181 Sauce is going to be a hit with our customers – all the staff loved it. And personally, I reckon the Sparkling Tea will be a crowd favourite – it’s the perfect accompaniment to fish and chips on a sunny seaside day.”

As well as the menu, the look and feel of Fortnum’s-On-Sea will also bring a splash of Piccadilly to the seafront. Eau de Nil pops of colour will complement Peter’s classic seaside branding, with gingham café curtains, bespoke window graphics and fish and chips served in Fortnum’s illustrated greaseproof paper. All chip cones will also be turned Eau de Nil for the month.
