Travel through 'Time' with Luxmuralis light show at Rochester Cathedral
From Ancient Egypt to H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine, guests can take an unforgettable journey through history and science
Explore humanity’s journey through the ages as Luxmuralis return to Rochester Cathedral from 30th September – 4th October 2025.
Time is an extraordinary light and sound spectacular guaranteed to captivate audiences. This marks the fifth visit by Luxmuralis to the historic Cathedral, following a series of previous sell-out shows.
Time invites audiences of all ages on an unforgettable journey through history, science and imagination. Visitors will traverse a series of captivating installations that explore humanity’s evolving relationship with the concept of time.
From the earliest epochs to modern theories of relativity and inspired by the visionary text of H.G. Wells’ "The Time Machine," each projection immerses attendees in a dramatic narrative that stretches from the present day back to the origins of our planet.
Last year’s Scriptorium: The Illuminated Histories was a huge success at Rochester Cathedral, captivating visitors with stunning projections and immersive soundscapes. Featuring rare images from the cathedral’s own manuscripts alongside treasures from the British Library, the show brought Anglo-Saxon art and legends vividly to life.
Peter Walker, Artistic Director of Luxmuralis says: “We’re so excited to bring Time to Rochester — an immersive journey that lets you step through the centuries in a completely new way. Through powerful light, sound, and storytelling, this installation transforms your surroundings and takes you from the present day all the way back through time itself. It’s not just something to watch — it’s something to feel, explore, and experience. Time allows thousands of visitors to wander through the artwork and lose themselves in the flow of the ages."
Tickets for Time are now on sale.
